CRCH Celebrates National Health Center Week!

Charles River Community Health was proud to again participate in National Health Center Week by hosting our annual Family Health Fair at both the Waltham and Brighton locations on August 9 and 10.  The fair was open to all patients and their families and offered a wide variety of information and activities including:

  • Health Screening and Information Tables
  • Information on Health Insurance
  • Face Painting
  • Free Back-to-School Supplies
  • Healthy Snacks and Ice Cream Truck!
  • COVID Vaccines for Eligible Patients ages 6 months and up

We had about 170 people visit us in Brighton on a hot summer day and more than 250 joined us at the Waltham event.  We were especially pleased to have State Senator William Brownsberger and Boston District 9 City Councilor Liz Breadon join us in Brighton.  Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy and Waltham City Councilor for Ward 9 Jonathan Paz joined us for our Waltham event.  A special thanks to the Sun Safety and Skin Cancer Prevention team from Dana Farber Cancer Institute who joined us with their Skin Cancer Prevention van on Tuesday at Brighton!  They were able to educate 34 community members on how to reduce the risk of skin cancer.  We were also able to provide COVID vaccine or booster shots to more than 55 people during the Health Fairs.  Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to our sponsor, Rockland Trust for their financial support!

National Health Center week is observed in the second week of August every year. It is promoted by the National Association of Community Health Centers which seeks to celebrate the accomplishments within their communities. Moreover, they endeavor to spread awareness about the importance of community health centers. They also look to advocate for emergency and long-term funding for community health centers to ensure the smooth provision of services to everyone for years to come.
